Advances in 3D GIS

چکیده
Many activities wait for 3D solutions in data storage, processing and analysis. Some of the most appealing ones are urban planning, environmental monitoring, telecommunications (mobile services), public rescue operations, real-estate market, utility management. The role of geo-information in all kinds of business processes is increasing as well. Most business transactions rely on information systems, as the geo-information is critical for many of them. Clearly, once the developments in the 3D GIS provide a compatible functionality and performance, spatial information services will evolve into the third dimension. Here, we attempt to summarise the recent advances in 3D GIS development.
